With the highest percentage of international faculty in Spain (27%) and one of the most international in Europe, international students represented 45% of postgraduate students, attracted by the opportunity to study and carry out research with globally renowned faculty and researchers.The Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra ( ) is seeking to appoint a 5-year full-time tenure-track position in Demography and Population Health, to be contracted in June 2025.The monitoring of the selection process will be made public on the department’s website, under the section ‘Job Offers’.Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Demography, Sociology or closely related Social Science discipline. Please refer to the call for applications on the department’s website for details.In particular, we seek candidates whose research profile focuses on the areas of health inequalities, mortality and/or ageing trajectories, with a strong background in quantitative research methods, and cross-national comparative research. Additional research lines such as biodemographic patterns of health, gender differences in health and mortality, methodological challenges in estimating healthy life expectancy indicators, statistical methods with particular emphasis on mortality models, and global health will be valued. Candidates should also have experience working with complex datasets, missing information, ideally related to demographic components, and strong programming skills. With all of that, we aim to strengthen local and global health research, to better understand population dynamics, and promote knowledge transfer.We also prioritize candidates with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the top quartiles of JCR, participation in research grants, and with teaching experience at all academic levels. Candidates will be encouraged to develop their own research interests and apply for independent funding. The annual salary is approximately €40,000 (entry gross salary of an associate professor).Teaching duties include courses at both undergraduate and/or graduate level. The successful candidate will join the DemoSoc research group ( ) in the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
