It is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU.This traineeship opportunity is now open for applications until 6 May 2025 23:59 CET, with an intake on 1 October 2025.About the traineeship programmeThe Agency is looking for motivated, qualified recent graduates or students on an Erasmus+ or other programme or PhD students or Master’s students (who posses a previous degree), who are interested in gaining experience and contribute to the Agency’s work for every patient in Europe. The purpose of a traineeship at the Agency is to perform tasks that are predominantly in the interest of the trainee’s training and principally serve to increase the trainee’s knowledge and to gain relevant experience.Placement descriptionWe are looking for a trainee in the Data Analytics and Methods Task Force.Specific objectives and projectsDuring this project, the trainee will contribute to the creation of a genomics curriculum focused on pharmacogenomics for the European Medicines Regulatory Network. This curriculum, an objective set out by the HMA-EMA Big Data Steering Group, aims to support the development of an expert workforce capable of better advising on and interpreting genomic data for the assessment of medicines.The trainee will contribute to the identification of subject-matter experts from the Methodology Working Party European Specialised Expert Community (MWP ESEC) and will establish regular meetings with them to produce content for the curriculum.The trainee will explore various types of learning materials and methods of content collection, evaluating their effectiveness in communicating the learnings. Additionally, the trainee will contribute to the MWP’s formal procedures for the adoption of the curriculum content. The trainee will learn how to use Articulate Rise to format and deliver the curriculum content to the wider European Medicines Regulatory Network. Finally, the trainee will test and evaluate this new approach to creating a training curriculum by combining expert knowledge for the content and in-house software for its distribution to the wider European Medicines Regulatory Network.Learning outcomesThe learning outcomes of this traineeship project will be:– Gaining leadership and product management skills
– Learning to communicate essential knowledge to a specific audience
– Further developing communication, organisational and networking skills required for the project
– Gaining experience working with an EMA Working Party & learning its formal procedures (from internal consultation of the work to adoption)
– Learning to use Articulate Rise as a tool to deliver training
– Gaining exposure to working in a regulatory environment
– Critically appraise and re-evaluate ways of working to better deliver the project
– Understanding the European Medicines Regulatory Network, and the Methodology Domain (i.e. the Methodology Working Party and its European Specialised Expert Community)Eligibility criteriaTo be eligible for consideration for this placement, you are required to: * enjoy full rights as a citizen of a European Union Member State or Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway;
- possess a university degree in genetics/genomics, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biology, life sciences, medicines, or pharmacology (minimum of three years or more) that must have been obtained between 6 May 2024 and 6 May 2025 or be a university student on an Erasmus + or a similar programme or a PhD student or a Master’s student with a previous fully finished degree in the areas mentioned before.

Placement start 1 October 2025Conditions of traineeshipThe traineeship is offered for 10 months (1 October 2025 – 31 July 2026) and takes place at the Agency’s premises in Amsterdam with possibility for teleworking up to 40% of working time from The Netherlands and occasional teleworking from outside The Netherlands.
