Are you passionate about preserving Cornwall’s natural habitats? We have an opportunity for
four trainees to join our reserves teams in Mid-Cornwall and our Helman Tor Nature Reserve.

As part of the Reserves Team, you will assist with the delivery of work programmes directly
through practical work, working alongside our experienced Reserves Officers.

Reserves estate work will involve management of woodland, scrubland, grassland, heathland,
wetland and hedgerow habitats.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust are recruiting for four passionate trainees to join our skilled
reserves teams. Two positions are available for individuals eager to contribute to a dynamic
work plan at our Mid Cornwall Nature Reserves, and an additional two positions are open at our
Helman Tor Nature Reserve.

Applicants should be able to showcase prior experience working on reserves or in similar
environments. This role aims to provide candidates with the necessary skills and firsthand
experience to pursue a career in the conservation sector.

While there may be some time allocated to office and workshop activities, the majority of the
work involves outdoor tasks, requiring engagement in all weather conditions.

Working closely with the Reserves Officer, you will actively participate in diverse habitat
management across woodland, scrubland, grassland, heathland, wetland, and hedgerow areas. The
tasks will be varied, necessitating both energy and adaptability from candidates. The
predominant focus remains on outdoor activities, offering a hands-on conservation experience.

This role is designed to equip you with both the skills and experience needed to pursue a
career in the conservation sector. A substantial amount of training and experience is provided.
Trust staff will teach practical nature reserve management skills and provide the theory and
rationale behind the work you do. A training budget is available which includes externally
certified training in First Aid, Brushcutter, Pesticides, 4×4 off-road driving, ATV, Chainsaw
(CS30 & 31). Species identification and surveying courses are also available.
