We have an exciting new opportunity in the RVC veterinary team working at the purpose built facilities at Woodgreen Pets Charity site at Kings Bush farm in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

The 52 acre site is set in beautiful countryside and is one of the largest multispecies Shelters in Europe. There is a self-contained veterinary suite which was purpose built in 2012, with three operating theatres, and radiography/ultrasound facilities – including dental radiography, to facilitate provision of excellent first opinion veterinary care to the animals that Wood Green helps daily from cats and dogs to chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits.

The post holder will working alongside the Woodgreen nursing and auxillary team and oversee final year RVC veterinary students spending time at the shelter learning day one skills and how to give high quality shelter medicine care in the context that you are in. Your role will be to ensure delivery of the RVC’s clinical and teaching goals in an efficient and caring way, including teaching of neuter and dental surgeries. Confidence in your own skills as well as some experience teaching students is beneficial.

As a role model for RVC students, excellent communication skills and the ability to provide and receive feedback are essential. You should have a strong focus on the importance of preventative health care – including providing a high quality high volume neuter service.

The role is 4 days a week 8.30-4.30p.m with no evenings, although flexible working patterns and job sharing is an option.  Weekends are currently 1 in 3 , working Saturday and Sunday half days (9.30a.m to 1p.m) consulting/checks only. A lieu day is provided the following week when a weekend is worked

We offer a generous reward package including 6 weeks annual leave pro rata, and unlimited free access to RVC online CPD to support personal development plans.
