A multi-million pound project – awarded by AHRC’s Creative Research Capability and is part of UKRI World Class Laboratories Fund – the specialist facility will drive forward an ambitious research agenda, build capacity to meet wide ranging sector needs, and support significant growth potential for the UK’s creative and cultural economy.

As the project manager for the new Virtual Production / XR facility, you will provide project management for UAL FTTI’s state of the art Virtual Production/XR lab, and work closely with the FTTI Director, Deputy Director, Senior R&D fellows and operational staff on the development, submission and delivery of funded R&D projects.

You will work closely with FTTI operations colleagues to identify and allocate appropriate levels of resource, set up new R&D projects, take the lead on impact reporting for the VP/XR lab and ensuring the success of project deliverables as defined in any new collaboration agreements.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • To work closely with the UAL FTTI Director, FTTI manager and other colleagues in development of successful funding applications.
  • To build relationships with academic and technical colleagues across UAL and HEI partners, scoping areas for collaboration and impact with VP/XR innovation at the core.
  • To provide project management of successful R&D projects and to manage the critical path and deliverables to achieve on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • To manage successful R&D project budgets, in liaison with the Director, FTTI administrator and Research Management & Administration (RMA) team at UAL.
  • To draft project plans and reports, including financial, forecasting and progress/annual and quarterly reports in line with internal and funding body requirements, and monitor and analyse data as appropriate.
  • To ensure, with the Director and UAL’s Legal team, that all contracts relating to the project are effectively negotiated and implemented in line with any internal or external governing procedures or protocols (e.g. UAL’s Contracts Protocol).
  • To liaise with the project’s academic partners and manage the project’s network of industry partners and participants, for the successful implementation of projects.
  • To work with FTTI communications manager to effectively plan, co-ordinate and manage the VP/XR Lab programme, promotion, and dissemination of successful projects.
  • To manage the day-to-day activities of project staff (e.g. PDRFs where relevant) including responsibility for the recruitment and selection of new staff.
  • To service the project meetings including, with the Director, setting agendas, producing and distributing papers, minute taking and following up of action points as appropriate.
