Young Researcher in Molecular Cell Biology

Ospedale San Raffaele

Job title:

Young Researcher in Molecular Cell Biology

Company:

Ospedale San Raffaele

Job description

IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a young motivated researcher to join the Cell Adhesion Laboratory, who is interested in studying novel molecular-cellular mechanisms implicated in tumor cell motility and invasion. The project financed by AIRC is dealing with the structure-function characterization of plasma membrane-associated platforms (PMAPs), a dynamic molecular network that regulates the protrusive activity of migrating tumor cells. PMAPs are composed by a network of proteins including scaffolds and regulatory enzymes (kinases and phosphatases) that cooperate to regulate in a dynamic way the front of migrating tumor cells, to promote the turnover of adhesions and the efficient cell motility. The candidate will contribute to investigate the structure-function relationship linking PMAP proteins including Liprin-alpha1 and ERC1, to the organization and function of PMAPs at the cell edge. For this, the candidate will have the possibility to learn and apply molecular cell biology approaches that will include work with cDNA to prepare wt and mutant constructs, biochemical/immunochemical techniques, high resolution confocal microscopy (on fixed and live cells), cell biological techniques including transfections with siRNAs and plasmids for the KO (CRISPR/Cas9) of endogenous protein(s), functional assays to assess distinct aspects of cell motility.Applicants are requested to send to [email protected] :
a CV including the name(s) and contact(s) (including email, phone) of at least one Referee, a brief description of known techniques and of previous research experience;
a motivation letter describing her/his interest in joyning this lab, and previous experimental work experiences. Both postdoctoral candidates and young post-master degree candidates will be considered, pending their strong motivation in learning experimental approaches to be applied to important basic science topics.Who we are looking for a motivated young researcher enthusiastic about learning several molecular-cell biology techniques to address novel mechanisms of tumor cell motility and invasion.Work details:
Type of contract: Fellowship/CoCoCo;
Duration: 12 months renewable;
Place of work: San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Dibit, via Olgettina 58, 20132 Milano.
