Devon Wildlife Trust

Can you relate to, engage, and inspire young people? Are you passionate about nature and the
outdoors? Are you excited by the idea of bringing a diverse group of young people into
conservation?

Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) is Devon’s leading wildlife conservation charity, with over 36,000
members, 350 regular volunteers, 100 staff and 63 nature reserves. We are one of the larger
locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered
the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats
like Culm Grassland.

Through the Pine Martens Bounce Back project, the Two Moors Partnership (comprised of Devon
Wildlife Trust, Dartmoor National Park Authority, Exmoor National Park Authority, National
Trust, Woodland Trust, Forestry England and Somerset Wildlife Trust) we are restoring a viable
pine marten population to the wooded landscapes of Somerset and Devon.

Youth Pathways is a ground breaking initiative within the Two Moors project. It has been
designed to engage with young people facing barriers or disadvantages and bring them on a
journey; from initial nature connection through volunteering opportunities and on to
traineeships and careers in conservation. You will lead this exciting programme and deliver the
activity within it; building up young people’s skills and confidence and adapting the programme
as we go to respond to the voices of young people. The programme is being delivered in close
partnership with Young Devon and SPACE Youth Services, so you will work closely with them as
well as with colleagues within DWT and other project partners.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days (pro-rata) annual leave plus bank holidays and additional paid time during the
    Christmas shut down period
  • Agile working arrangements including home working
  • Flexitime system
  • Salary progression (subject to satisfactory performance)
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Death in Service cover
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Training and development opportunities

This is a part-time (22.5 hours p/w) fixed term appointment until 31 March 2027, contractually
located at Cricklepit Mill.

First stage interviews are being held on Friday 19 April and second stage interviews on Friday
26 April.

We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this
role. We are an inclusive organisation that is seeking to involve more diverse audiences in our
work.
