Niels Bohr Institute
Faculty of ScienceUniversity of CopenhagenWithin the recently funded ERC PATHFINDER project BIOMEM we are offering a time-limited assistant professor position in the field of structural membrane physics with particular focus on x-ray and neutron scattering methods. The BIOMEM project aims to provide the foundation for the next generation of highly selective biomimetic filtration membranes in collaboration with industry and international academic partners. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in several of the following:

  • Experience in experimental small-angle x-ray and neutron scattering on biomembrane systems and membrane protein containing systems in particular. This includes experience in large-scale facility experiments.
  • Strong theoretical background in modelling and analysis of small-angle scattering data and model development.
  • Experience with surface scattering techniques, reflectometry or grazing-incidence x-ray and neutron scattering.
  • Ideally experience in molecular modelling and simulations of biomolecules and connecting this with scattering data interpretation.

The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within x-ray and neutron science. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties. The position is open from 13 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
