About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a strategically important team. Your contribution to the university’s vision of transforming people, societies and places through outstanding graduate outcomes and equipping business and communities with the skills for the future, will be to support the central Placement Team’s strategic objective to increase placement activity by 50% by 2027.
Main Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our busy but friendly team, to facilitate and support increasing numbers of students into placements in the UK and overseas. Reporting to the Head of Student and Graduate Employability, you will have responsibility for day-to-day supervision of a small team and play a vital role in ensuring placement preparation services are efficient, effective, solution focused and adapt to changing circumstances for the Schools of study.
An important part of this role is working with colleagues in Schools to increase placement awareness and increase placement uptake, ideally through the curriculum. Working with employers to source placements and work-based projects will be a key part of the role, as well as maintaining and growing an established Professional Mentoring programme. As part of the role you will design and deliver face to face and online innovative placement readiness activities and support Schools with project work.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will need to enjoy working under pressure, achieving targets and creative problem solving. With an outgoing personality, you will have experience in supervising colleagues; with a particular emphasis on motivating to achieve high performance standards. It is essential that you demonstrate a flexible and collaborative approach, as is the ability to manage unpredictability.
