Business Development Manager
Celtic Careers has partnered with a leading distributor of engineering materials and solutions who is currently hiring a Business Development Manager to join their Regional Business Development team.Reporting directly to the Group Business Development Manager and working with the wider team and other members of the Sales and Operational teams including the senior team. The Business Development Manager will expand on their existing network of contacts to grow the business.Key Responsibilities
Business development planning

  • Develop and lead sector and client business in line with Group business plans.
  • Analyse the customer base to establish a common approach to retention and growth.
  • Identify own and colleague development capabilities and work to optimise Group success.

Business intelligence

  • Working with the Business Development team to developing and manage existing and new sectors.
  • Undertake key research to understand the business and project drivers of sectors, customers, and potential opportunities.

Client relationships

  • Build on an already established network of contacts across the target sectors to bring new opportunities into the business.
  • Take the lead on client relationships, but equally introduce to Sales and Technical Sales teams and ensure a robust client relationships management strategy and delivery.
  • Engage with sectors and customers to anticipate potential business opportunities and implement actions.
  • Ensure effective management, completion and follow up of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Prepare programmes of external communication, customer engagement and brand promotion that will contribute to the achievement and objectives.

Key networking/events

  • Organise and represent Company at key networking events to raise the company profile.
  • Attend and engage with customers and target customers at industry events, the wider Sales and to nurture client relationships and translate into real opportunities.

Key measures & targets:

  • Market intelligence reports/CRM system to be maintained and updated to track targets.
  • Opportunity conversion success
  • New customers introduced and customer satisfaction.
  • Build relationships with key colleagues.

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:

  • Experience in building commercial relationships to help deliver improved service and innovation.
  • Have an existing network of contacts.
  • Detailed knowledge of marketing and business development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to seek and develop new relationships to achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Ability to convert customer relationships into opportunities.
  • Create a culture of constructive and effective communication.
  • Communicate with authority and conviction in all situations with all levels of colleague and customer organisations.
  • Ability to contribute to development of strategy and take responsibility for strategic objectives.
  • Recognise changing market and puts plans into action to make a positive contribution.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of different teams both internally and externally.
