In addition, understanding the SKU range is essential to maximise robot productivity. The Inventory Recognition team provides tools to help achieve these goals.ResponsibilitiesLeading a top team of highly skilled software professionals in the area of machine vision and deep learning. Continuously transform and grow Ocado Advanced Technology offerings with new vision products and capabilities in the space of product recognition and process optimizations using Deep Learning models, advanced MLOps tools, and both edge and cloud (AWS and GCP) infrastructure.You will:

  • Grow and lead the Inventory recognition team.
  • Actively architect and implement end-to-end cutting-edge production software solutions using Deep Learning models for Machine Vision in combination with cloud infrastructure and on-prem compute hardware.
  • Foster impeccable code quality and code delivery processes including overseeing all aspects of design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance phases.
  • Continuously provide guidelines and mentorship to team members.
  • Drive knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team and across teams.
  • Partner with the product teams to identify and deliver the next generation of products in the machine vision area.
  • Discover, evaluate, and implement new tools and practices.

Experience required:

  • Proficient in designing and implementing distributed production software systems with Python, or Java (architecture, design patterns, testing, monitoring, alerting, etc.) running both in the cloud and on the edge devices.
  • Deep practical experience with cloud services e.g. AWS or GCP.
  • Strong previous experience in leading and growing teams with exposure to live production code at scale.
  • Be able to look forward, plan ahead, and track execution leveraging waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Extensive experience with Docker containers and container orchestration services.
  • Demonstrable experience in releasing and maintaining code in production.

Desirable:

  • Experience with VertexAI or ClearML will be considered a strong plus
  • Experience with Tensorflow or PyTorch
  • Experience with GCP data services (BigQuery etc.)
  • Knowledge of ELK stack and New Relic
  • Knowledge of Terraform
  • SCRUM master certification
  • Experience with vision hardware – cameras and sensors
  • Experience in robotics or similar domains involving hardware, sensors etc.
