Offer Description

The project aims to overcome a barrier for the activation and valorization of sulfur hexafluoride, a greenhouse gas, for the synthesis of high-value-added products. The purpose of this project is to synthesize a reagent capable of transferring the SF5 group via the activation of SF6. The synthesized reagent will be used in new reactions to form C-SF5 and heteroatom-SF5 bonds. These products will have applications in the life sciences, such as the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries, as well as in materials science. Synthesizing a new reagent will facilitate access to molecules containing the SF5 motif.

Organic synthesis, experimental work, collaboration with another post-doc and a PhD student to get the project off the ground.

part of ERC project whose PI is Dr. Anis Tlili
