Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires experience in the design of new constructs and expression of proteins, the production of proteins and optimisation of protein crystals for time-resolved crystallography experiments and the design and development of biochemical assays as well as the biophysical analyses. A second part of the project will involve the development of biochemical probes to monitor processes involved in bacterial cell wall biosynthesis requiring detailed experience in bacterial flow cytometry. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry and is available as soon as possible.
