Faculty of Environment, Science and EconomyThis new full time post is available from 1 May 2024 on a 2 year fixed term basis.The postThe University of Exeter wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow to conduct a collaborative research programme with another institute and industries, at the forefront of high entropy ceramics R & D, under supervision of Prof. Shaowei Zhang (Exeter). This EPSRC funded post is available from 1 May 2024 for 2 years.The successful applicant will be responsible for developing innovative synthesis methodologies, including flux and field co-assisted synthesis, catalytic synthesis, and flash sintering techniques. These methods will be employed to synthesise high entropy materials in both powder and bulk forms. Additionally, you will conduct thorough characterisation of the microstructures and assess the structural, thermal, and chemical properties, particularly under extreme environmental conditions.About youApplicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in materials, physics, chemistry, or a related field of study. For Fellow level the successful applicant will likely to be a nationally recognised authority in materials synthesis and characterisation. Applicants will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required, and make presentations at conferences and other events.
