The position

As a Senior/Principal Scientist you will be part of an ambitious multidisciplinary team exploring and identifying new treatment options within chronic kidney disease.

Your main responsibilities will include:

-Providing scientific leadership within chronic kidney disease and working closely with scientists and technicians throughout the organization
-Advancing projects across the value chain using advanced translational tools and multicellular in vitro disease models
-Taking part in evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech, or pharma
-Contributing to remaining on top of the current commercial and academic advancements within the field and representing the organization at conferences
The seniority level for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

You hold a Ph.D. and a minimum of 3 years of experience from the pharma and/or biotech industry within drug discovery, including experience driving target ideation, validation and/or maturation in preclinical phases preferably within cardiometabolic diseases.

To be successful in this position we expect you to have:

-Deep understanding of chronic kidney disease etiologies and cellular mechanisms is an advantage
-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
-Ideally previous experience in establishing human in vitro and in vivo disease models
-Preferably experience in working with external collaborations (partners or CROs)
-Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
On a personal level, you are a strong team player and have great stakeholder management skills. You can provide scientific leadership, mentor team members, and guide research initiatives effectively. Furthermore, you are efficient in collaborating with cross-functional teams, external partners, and other stakeholders to drive research and project outcomes.

About the department

The position is anchored in the Kidney Biology department in the Cardiorenal Research area within Global Drug Discovery (GDD), Novo Nordisk. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterization of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiorenal diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues across and beyond GDD, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterize and utilize tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
